Finca La Argentina is our oldest family farm, located in the Dipilto municipality of Nueva Segovia on the Dipilto and Jalapa mountain range. Most of La Argentina’s 75 hectares are planted with excellent cup quality yielding varieties such as: Java, Bourbon tekisic, Maracaturra, SL28, SL34, Catuai and Caturra. Because of its location and excellent access roads, it is very easy to get to and from La Argentina making it very convenient to transport the wet parchment to the mills in Mozonte, some 35 km away. The wet milling process is performed on a new Pinhalense dual pulper wet mill and an environmentally friendly system with very little water use.

Finca La Cascada translates to “the waterfall farm”. That is not without a reason. Six streams and an impressive waterfall run down this coffee farm, eventually leading into the wild El Volcan River. The farm starts at 1170 MASL and runs all the way up to 1300 MASL. With a total area of 72 hectares, this is quite an impressive farm. Finca La Cascada's close proximity to the picturesque old town of Dipilto makes it easier to visit than most of the Peralta farms. This beautiful farm has been in the family for generations, and each generation has built upon the success and knowledge of the last to bring us to where we are today. Varieties to be found here are Caturra, Maracaturra and Java.

North east of La Cascada in the municipality of San Fernando northeast of Dipilto, there lies El Bosque, a 42 hectare farm planted with 100% Arabica excellent cupping varieties. The farm stretches out over 3 long hillsides, of which one goes up to 1560 MASL. The farm plot on top is named ‘Las Nubes’ meaning ‘The Clouds’. If you are fortunate enough to be here on a clear day, you can look into the valley and see everything from Honduras to the north, to the tobacco farms to the south, stretching as far as Ciudad Antigua, the oldest city in Nueva Segovia. The wet mill at El Bosque is an efficient and eco-friendly Penagos UBC2500 wet mill which operates with very little water and is powered by renewable energy. Because of the multiple water sources that originate within El Bosque’s 112 hectare forest area, we are able to run a 15kwa hydroelectric generator which provides electric power to the entire farm. El Bosque is a Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee farm and produces exclusively shade grown coffee. The average annual production for this farm is 1200 69kg bags.

The view you get from the top of Santa Maria de Lourdes is spectacular. All throughout the farm you will find small streams of water, separating the farm plots. Out of all the Peralta family farms, Santa Maria is always the last one to finish harvesting all its coffee, with a harvest starting in January and going on all the way up until April. Finca Santa Maria de Lourdes has 32 hectares of coffee area and an additional 45 hectares of forest area. This creates a unique ecosystem full of flora and native species such as howler and white face monkeys, which can be seen and heard in the shade trees high above the coffee. While the majority of the production is Caturra, you will also find Catuai, Tekisit, Maracaturra, Pacamara, Red Bourbon and Java growing here. A 15kwa hydroelectric generator also powers the farm and our Penagos UBCE 2500 wet mill at Santa Maria de Lourdes. The average annual production for this farm is 1000 69 kg bags.

Finca Samaria is a beautiful estate at the end of the road going from the town of San Fernando north towards the border with Honduras. It is actually so close to Honduras that if you walk to the neighboring farm, you have crossed a border. The long curvy road up to the finca gives you a beautiful overview of the farm. The different farm plots are separated and maintained well, making use of shade trees native to the area, and growing different varieties. This farm mainly grows Caturra and Catuai, as well as smaller plots of Red Bourbon, Pacamara, and Java. The coffee growing area is 45 hectares, with and additional 85 hectares of forest area. In the middle of the farm you can find the washing station that, during the peak of the harvest season, processes washed, honey, and natural coffees. The biggest challenge of Samaria is getting the coffee down during the harvest. With rain and mud on the road, 4x4 trucks are necessary to get the coffee to the San Ignacio mill in Mozonte for drying.
